The India Liaison Council of UNI Global Union and UNICOME, the commerce workers union in India have sent a written submission to the official Walmart inquiry in India. The submission outlines allegations of Walmart acting illegally in Mexico, and information on Walmart's own investigations in India, Brazil, South Africa and China. Head of UNI India Liaison Council Milind Nadkarni said, “The submission sets out Walmart's poor track record in labour relations around the world. We are simply making the Indian authorities aware of the facts and asking them to tread carefully before giving Walmart the key to India's markets. Trouble follows Walmart around and India must fully consider the consequences of allowing the company free reign.” UNI Global Union is an international union representing more than 20 million workers from over 900 trade unions in the services industries worldwide.
