Whirlpool of India posted a net profit of Rs 31.5 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2014, up 48.6 per cent on the net profit recorded in the corresponding previous quarter. Total income grew by 7.2 per cent to Rs 721.4 crore.
In a statement, Arvind Uppal, Chairman,Whirlpool of India Ltd, and President, Asia Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation said, “Improved product mix and cost productivity helped offset the softness in demand post-Diwali. The drop in raw material prices augurs well for the industry and we remain optimistic about the future outlook."
The company said it has focused on growing its presence at the premium end and its business in Built In appliances, sold through the kitchen manufacturer channel, is now available in over 250 outlets across the country. It is also planning to expand its air conditioner, microwave and water purifier businesses, the statement added.
