Whirlpool of India Ltd announced on Thursday that Arvind Uppal, its Chairman and President Asia-Pacific, Whirlpool Corporation, has decided to voluntarily retire from Whirlpool Corp effective December 31, 2017.
Uppal will continue in his role as Chairman, Whirlpool of India Ltd.
“This has been a very satisfying and fulfilling 12 years, where I have experienced some of the toughest battles and made some of my best friends. I believe the business is now in very good hands and the time has come to pass on the baton,” Uppal said.
Uppal joined Whirlpool of India in February 2005 as Managing Director and was elevated to the position of President Asia-Pacific in 2010. Prior to Whirlpool he had a stint of 18 years with Nestle, where he held various senior management positions in Switzerland, China, Vietnam and India.
