Women should take up engaging roles in manufacturing in pharmaceutics industry, according to Uma Chigurupati, Executive Director, Granules India Ltd.
She was speaking at a round table organised by the Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) as part of the International Women’s Day Celebrations here on Tuesday.
Referring to the pharma industry, she said most of women employees were working in areas such as quality assurance and marketing. “But, why not in manufacturing like what is being done in China?” she asked.
“Better shift system with three shifts a day, giving them better security and family support will be of help in this regard,” she added.
Noted doctor and Padma award winner Manjula Anagani said better healthcare awareness should be provided to women employees to help them deal with issues like menopause. “We should be looking at mobile clinics to increase awareness about healthcare,” she said.
