International Paper APPM has said workers at its manufacturing facility located at Rajahmundry have unconditionally called off their strike and returned to work from Thursday, September 1.
Earlier, on August 12, the company had said workers at the unit had gone on strike.
This development was preceded by the signing of a memorandum between the management team and the union representatives on August 31 in the presence of the Additional Commissioner of Labour, Andhra Pradesh.
According to the memorandum, employment in non-unionised categories falls outside the purview of the unions, and the workers would unconditionally call off the unlawful strike and return to work from September 1. The 'No Work No Pay' principle would be sustained.
Further, it informed that the suspended employees would remain under suspension until the enquiry was completed.
With the strike being called off, operations at the manufacturing facility have resumed with effect from the 'B' shift of September 1. The strike had resulted in loss of production of approximately 7,000 tonnes, the company said.
