Yamaha Motor India on Monday launched two new motorcycles in its FZ series — FZ and FZ-S, priced at ₹76,250 and ₹78,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.
With these motorcycles, the company expects sales to grow to around 24,000 units a month in the FZ series from around 18,000 a month. The company said it will continue to sell the older versions of FZ and FZ-S as it wants to offer a choice to customers.
The FZ series is one of Yamaha’s best selling models in India. Overall, the company sold 47,680 units in May against 34,021 units in the corresponding month last year, registering a growth of 40 per cent.
“It’s just that the price difference between the older and new versions is around ₹5,300. With the focus around the FZ series, we are expecting our market share to grow 20-25 per cent in the coming year from around 18 per cent right now,” Roy Kurian, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, told reporters here.
He said the company was targeting men in the 18-30 age group.
The FZ Version 2.0 is mounted with a newly designed air-cooled 149cc 4-stroke, single overhead camshaft, single-cylinder fuel-injected engine on a lightweight frame to realise the product concept of a ‘sharpened and power-packed new FZ’, the company said.
