Japanese bikemaker Yamaha is set to kick off the new season of its R15 Championship from June 4 .
The One Make Race, which will have a total of five rounds, will also have separate categories for novices and experts. It will begin at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai, while some races will also be held at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. Three best riders will be given a chance to participate in the ‘Yamaha ASEAN Cup Race' in Thailand later this year.
“Motor Sports is an integral part of our Brand Image. This also gives us the opportunity to come closer to our consumers as they get to experience the true racing instinct of YZF-R15,” said Mr Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO & MD, India Yamaha Motor.
This series is part of the Indian National Racing Championship 2011. With an aim to let all bikers experience Yamaha's flagship product, the event will also be open to non-Yamaha customers.
