YuppTV, an OTT (over the top) live TV and video on-demand solutions provider, has launched Germany’s premier international news channel Deutsche Welle in English for viewers in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan.

Viewers of YuppTV will now be able to enjoy news, features and award-winning documentaries covering topics from breaking news to science, politics, arts, culture and sports.

The YuppTV platform would receive 5,000 hours of new on-demand content everyday with 24x7, customer-centric support.

Uday Reddy, CEO of YuppTV, said “The launch of the DW channel adds incredible value to the customer viewing experience. Our viewers in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan will now have access to reliable international news from a channel that is trusted for its veracity and unbiased coverage. It’s a welcome addition to YuppTV catalogue and the association aligns with the German broadcaster’s growth plan in South Asia.”

According to a spokesperson from DW, “We have already seen a major shift in the television industry over the past couple of years towards increased viewer engagement and attention. While attention spans switch to the second screen, it will also be important to create a seamless viewer experience that goes from television to mobile to PC and back again. Therefore, we are very happy with this new cooperation as it strengthens our course of future development in Asia.”
