Zomato.com has announced an investment of $ 1 million (Rs 6 crore) to strengthen its presence in Scotland.
The announcement was made by Viraj Sawant, Business Head, Zomato Western India at an event to mark the launch of ‘Scotland Welcomes the World’ campaign by Scottish Development International.
Sawant also shared Zomato’s experience of setting up their business in Scotland and its plans to strengthen operations.
Zomato, a global restaurant guide currently present in 41 cities across 12 countries, extended its digital presence to Edinburgh and Glasgow in November 2013 and provides information for over 3,000 restaurants in the two cities. The company has also set-up its second UK office after London in Edinburgh in early 2014 to cater to the growing demand for their service more effectively.
“With a very diverse cuisine-driven restaurant industry, Scotland has gained significant prominence over the last decade and has a lot to offer to the culinary sector. Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland were the obvious choices to expand into. We are strengthening our presence and growing our team in Scotland and investing 1 million over the next year to scale up our operations in Scotland”, said Viraj Sawant.
