‘Openings for cost and work accountants increasing'

Employment opportunities for cost and works accountants are increasing, according to Mr M. Gopalakrishnan, President, the Institute of Cost and Work Accounts (ICWAI).

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr Gopalakrishnan said multinational companies were actively hiring students of (ICWAI) in campus recruitments due to increasing focus on cost management.

At present, the institute has over 4.50 lakh students on its rolls.

“The initial salary package for our students is more than Rs 5 lakh per annum,” Mr Gopalakrishnan said.

ICWAI was working closely with various ministries in improving cost structures, corporate social responsibility and environment-friendly efforts, he said.

By proper cost management, it was possible to devise various means to reduce the healthcare and infrastructure costs, he added.
