2-day Global mining summit opens on Dec 5

Ministers, policymakers, diplomats and captains of the mining and minerals sector from across the world will discuss global mining trends, technology, policy frameworks and emerging business opportunities in the Indian mining and coal sectors during a two-day Global Mining Summit (GMS 2012) at Kolkata. The summit will begin on December 5.

The Global Mining Summit 2012 will also focus on roles of financial institutions, environmental and safety issues. 

IMME 2012 exhibition

A four-day International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME 2012) will also kick off concurrently with the summit. The exhibition will begin December 5.

The Confederation of Indian Industry is organising these global events along with the Ministry of Mines and Coal India. The 11th edition of IMME 2012 will showcase latest technologies from more than 230 companies from across the world.

Dignitaries who are expected to be present during GMS 2012 include  Partha Chatterjee, West Bengal Commerce and Industry & IT minister, H.E. Wahidullah Shahrani, Minister of Mines, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, S.K. Srivastava, Secretary, Union Ministry of Coal, S. Narsing Rao, Chairman, Coal India, K.D. Diwan, Chairman and Managing Director, Hindustan Copper Ltd, Dean R. Thompson, Consul-General, Consulate-General of the United States of America, Kolkata, India and Luis De Leon, President – Global Mining Products, Caterpillar Inc, USA.
