The proposed Sea World project in Maharashtra's coastal Sindhudurg district, which aims at showcasing marine life, will require 200 acres and an estimated investment of Rs 509 crore, according to experts.
The State Government had entrusted the task of preparing a technical feasibility report to a committee of experts from the Central Government-controlled Science and Technology Park, headed by Mr Rajendra Jagdale.
The committee submitted its report to the Tourism Minister, Mr Chhagan Bhujbal, last month.
The report says that about 200 acres will be required for the project, and availability of water of good quality is necessary. The site should be easily approachable by air and the surrounding area should be picturesque so that tourism-related infrastructure can be developed, it says.
The project will take off only after the Government decides on the site. The committee has identified a location, but plans to declare it later.
