The Special Court hearing the 2G case on Wednesday permitted former Telecom Minister, Mr A. Raja, to visit Tamil Nadu, his home State, during June 8-30. This followed a plea by Mr Raja, an accused in the 2G case, who was given bail by the court last month. However, it had then imposed conditions, including that the DMK MP cannot visit Tamil Nadu and the Telecom Department, without its prior permission.
In his plea, Mr Raja had stated that he had not visited his home State for the last over one-and-a half years, adding that the court will be closed during its summer vacation from June 9-30, which is when he wanted to visit the State.
The court then permitted Mr Raja to visit Tamil Nadu subject to the other conditions imposed in the bail order. These include not directly or indirectly influencing or making any threat, inducement or promise to anyone acquainted with the case, including witnesses as well as not tampering with evidence.
