5 directors quit MBA training school to float own institute

Five directors of T.I.M.E, one of the premier training schools for MBA aspirants, have walked out of the company to start their own institute.

Mr A.R.K.S. Srinivas of T.I.M.E Mumbai who is part of the group that left the company cited “ideological differences” as the reason for the break up. The others in the group are: Mr Ajay Arora of the Bangalore centre, Mr Balasubramanian S of Chennai, Mr Nishant Priyadarshi of Lucknow and Mr Rahul Reddy of Kolkata.

These five have now set up their own training institute, VistaMind.

They had floated a B-school Vanguard last year which led to differences with the promoters of T.I.M.E. The promoters wanted to stick to their business model of remaining a training institute, “but for us, having been in the training industry for about a decade, starting a B-school was an obvious next step,” Mr Srinivas said.

The team tried to get the promoters of T.I.M.E into the Vanguard venture but “they had a different vision; they wanted to get to the other side of primary education,” Mr Srinivas said.

VistaMind is present in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Lucknow and Kanpur. “We expect to train close to 5,000 students for CAT 2012,” Mr Srinivas said.

Different course

The course will be different from other training institutes as material for students will be customised based upon their strengths and weaknesses, Mr Srinivas said. “To clear MBA entrance exams, good study material alone is not enough; the student must be given the right direction,” he said. “Trainers should cater to their individual requirements.”

VistaMind will also incorporate online training into the course to supplement offline classes. The online training will be live and will go beyond online manuals and tests, he added.

The company, unlike other training institutes that offer courses for all competitive exams, will offer only management exam training. However, in Bangalore, the institute will offer other training courses as well, Mr Srinivas said.

VistaMind will also conduct a “campus alignment” programme to help students succeed in job interviews.
