The Alipore court on Thursday granted bail to Dr Pranab Dasgupta, a board member of AMRI Hospitals Ltd, who was arrested on January 27.
Dr Dasgupta was arrested along with Dr Mani Chhetri in connection with the fire that broke out in AMRI Hospitals' Dhakuria unit on December 9. Dr Chhetri, managing director, AMRI's Dhakuria unit, was granted bail earlier on medical grounds.
This incidentally is the third bail granted in the AMRI incident which claimed over 90 lives, mostly patients. On February 17, the Calcutta High Court had granted bail to Mr R.S. Agarwal, one of the directors of AMRI Hospitals.
The court had, however, rejected similar pleas of four other directors of the hospital. Nine directors and four employees were arrested following the fire mishap.
