To move toward cleaner technology, there is a need to adopt “one country-one standard-one fuel quality” formula. This was suggested by Dr R.K Pachauri, Director-General, The Energy & Resources Institute, at a policy workshop held here recently.
The workshop, in consonance with International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, laid down a road map post-2010 for introduction of cleaner technology.
Mr B.K. Chaturvedi, Member, Planning Commission, said, “Given our commitments in Copenhagen and Cancun, we need to move towards cleaner fuel. In 2012, we are insisting on a road map so that by certain dates we are able to achieve Euro 6 standards.”
