Booking of stalls for BuildMat 2015, an international construction and interiors fair, was launched here on February 17.
More than 200 stalls were booked on the launch day itself, according to a release from the organisers.
The event, to be held from February 5 to 8 next year at the Codissia trade fair complex here, is sponsored by the city chapters of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) (ACCE) and the Builders’ Association of India (BAI).
CJ Ragunathan, Chairman of BuildMat 2015, said the provision of good living and working conditions for construction workers would contribute to higher productivity and loyalty, and pave the way for reduced labour shortage over time.
Karana Boopathy, Secretary – BuildMat 2015, said the exhibition would have more than 400 stalls apart from outdoor stalls.
B Seenaiah, President of the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), underlined the need to cut construction time by improving productivity and reducing costs.
M Murali, MD, Shriram Properties, releasing the fair brochure, appealed to the real estate and construction industry associations to work together to effectively change construction practices.
The Chairmen of the Coimbatore centres of the respective associations — O Lakshmanan (IIA), R Krishnaswamy (BAI) and K Subash (ACCE) — offered felicitations.
