The Central Bureau of Investigation has on Saturday filed a chargesheet in the illegal assets case pertaining to Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, in a special court here.
While Mr Reddy — son of ex-chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy — is the prime accused, the 68-page chargesheet also named 12 others as accused including industrialists and senior officials.
Mr Vijaya Sai Reddy, financial advisor of Mr Reddy, is the second accused in the case, registered on the directions ofAndhra Pradesh High Court in August last year.
Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Group of Companies, Hetero Groups, Trident Life Sciences; Mr M. Srinivasa Reddy, Director, Hetero Drugs; Mr K. Nityananda Reddy, Managing Director, Aurobindo Pharma; Mr P. Sarat Chandra Reddy, ex-Managing Director of Trident Life Sciences; Mr Chandramouli, ex-Company Secretary, Aurobindo Pharma; Jagathi Publications and Janani Infrastructure, were among the accused. Senior IAS officer Mr B.P. Acharya, who is in judicial remand in Emaar Properties case, and Mr Y. Vijaya Lakshmi Prasad, General Manager of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, were also named.
Speaking to newspersons at the CBI special court, Mr Ashok Reddy, Counsel for Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, said his client was charged mainly under the prevention of corruption act.
“There have been no major charges except that he helped his father in acquiring disproportionate assets,” he said.
There was no mention of any supplementary chargesheet to be filed later, he added.
The CBI had named 66 witnesses and submitted 263 documents to the court.
