The Confederation of Indian Industry, Southern Region, on Thursday said State-specific task forces will be constituted to focus on setting up of manufacturing zones.
These joint task force teams will be constituted involving State Governments with the objective to set up these manufacturing zones without delays and help create employment, Mr. G.V.Sanjay Reddy, Chairman of CII Southern Region, said.
Speaking after their Council meeting here today, he said CII is planning to host Festival of South India for the first time and Hyderabad could be chosen to host first such event. "We expect about 2,00,000 people to attend the event where art and culture will converge."
After a detailed discussion on economic issues and various policy matters at the Council, Mr. Reddy said the manufacturing sector has become engine of growth and the proposed manufacturing clusters will play a role in overall economic development. These manufacturing investment zones will align with the national manufacturing policy.
In Andhra Pradesh, he said there is potential for agro processing centres where industry and farmer linkages will be forged.
Referring to the current power supply constraints and huge demand supply mismatch, the CII suggested that the State needs to focus on renewable energy and address the sector by coming out with a policy.
