The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, today described the day's developments in the State Legislative Assembly as unprecedented and apologised to the Governor, Mr E.S.L. Narasimhan, and the people of the State for the developments.
He described the day's developments both inside the House, which led to disruption of Governor's address to the Budget session, and later assault on the Lok Satta Chief, Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan, by TRS members, as ‘Black day' in the State legislature.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC), Mr Reddy said that all established traditions have been flouted in the protests by some members. There is a way to protest in a democracy. “Since this has brought disrepute to the House, I apologise on behalf of everyone,” he said.
He later called on the Governor to express his feelings and apologise for what had transpired in the House earlier, when his speech was disrupted, mike wrenched, speech copy snatched and torn and even his chair removed from the back while he was delivering his address.
Action initiated
Referring to the incident where Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan was assaulted, he said that the matter has been taken up by the Deputy Speaker, Mr N. Manohar, and necessary action initiated in this regard as these events have taken place in the Assembly premises. He said that a handful of MLAs in a 294-member Assembly have brought the House to disrepute by their conduct.
The TRS MLAs allegedly manhandled Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan and Mr Paladugu Venkata Rao, MLC in the Assembly premises, when the former was speaking about the conduct of some members in the House.
PROTESTS
The State Government employees, in the Telangana region, employees of State-owned Singareni Collieries and some other undertakings today launched non-cooperation movement coinciding with the Budget session.
The Government staff held demonstrations and struck work following a call by the Joint Action Committee.
