Industrial units in the vicinity of Chandigarh, specially the SMEs, are reeling under acute shortage of basic raw material - MS rounds – for quite some time and finding it most difficult to run their plants to the optimum capacity, according to Mr A.L Aggarwal, President of the Chandigarh Industrial Fasteners' Association.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he made an appeal to the authorities of Vishakhapatnam steel plant to increase the production of the products and despatch at least five wagonloads on an emergency basis to the Chandigarh stockyard.

He said the Director (Commercial), RINL, should take immediate steps to save the SMEs in Chandigarh, as their production is very badly hit due to the scarcity.
