Clear themes make corporate annual reports attractive: Study

Write-up on themes can play an attractive role in effectively delivering corporate messages in annual report of companies, according to a study.

The study done by ReportInsights, an online journal of New-Delhi based ARInsight for corporate reporting, analysed annual reports on 29 leading companies.

“The mean page count for the theme section stood at six pages while Dr Reddy’s Laboratories’ theme section was the longest with 14 pages,’’ Pravin K. Ujjain, Managing Director, ARInsights, told newspersons here on Monday while disclosing the key findings of the study.

The theme could appear to be the trickiest or the simplest ingredient in an annual report. A well-conceived and executed theme ‘empowers an annual report becoming a positioning document for the company or act as the carrier of its corporate identity,’ he said.

A good annual report would help the companies as a corporate calling card to reach out to potential investors, Ujjain said, adding, “Above all, it promotes a culture of transparency.”
