Indian and Chinese firms will sign several commercial agreements in Mumbai on May 21 in the presence of the visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, a senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs said on Saturday.
No details were immediately available about the sectors in which the commercial agreements will be signed or the approximate value of the contracts.
Premier Li arrives here Sunday afternoon on his first foreign visit since assuming office earlier this year. During the trip, Li will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and also meet with President Pranab Mukherjee while in the national capital.
Briefing the media on the visit, officials indicated that India will continue to press for market access in China — be it in pharmaceuticals or IT. The officials said that Chinese companies have invested close to $55 billion in various projects here. “This is the amount in projects that they have either completed or are being completed,” officials said.
