The Lok Sabha has agreed to the amendments made by the Rajya Sabha to the Companies Bill 2012.

With this move, the action on the Companies Bill has now shifted to the Rashtrapati Bhawan for Presidential assent, official sources said.

“Not yet,” an official of the President’s Secretariat said, when asked if the Bill had received Presidential assent.

The Upper House had made as many as nine amendments to the Bill before passing it on August 8. It had then returned the Bill to the Lok Sabha on August 12. Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot, had on Tuesday last, amidst din in the Lower House, moved the amendments made by the Rajya Sabha.

The Companies Bill, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2011, was passed by the Lower House on December 18, 2012. It was then transmitted to the Rajya Sabha for concurrence.

The Bill has 29 chapters, 470 sections and 7 schedules.

A substantial part of the Bill will be administered through rules. Draft rules are expected to be made public by this month end.
