The Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers has convened a meeting with apex industry chambers on April 17 to discuss GST implementation issues.
Contentious issues relating to central sales tax will also be discussed, sources said. India Inc has been pitching for removal of central sales tax on inter-State sales.
Industry representatives from associations such as Assocham, FICCI and CII are likely to submit their views on GST at the meeting. The Empowered Committee is headed by Mr Sushil Kumar Modi, who is Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister.
The Centre is looking to introduce a dual-GST in the country. For this purpose, a constitutional amendment is required. Efforts are on to introduce this major indirect tax reform from April next year.
