As part of the energy conservation programme, the Andhra Pradesh Government will distribute over two crore compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs to domestic consumers before June 2012 at nominal cost.
This was disclosed by Mr Chandana Mithra, Managing Director, New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (NREDCAP), at a meeting to commemorate the Renewable Energy Day here on Saturday.
The CFL bulbs would be distributed to 39 lakh people in Visakhapatnam, he said.
A nominal cost of Rs 15 would be charged against the market price of Rs 90 for a CFL bulb in exchange of ordinary bulbs.
A pilot project on BLY scheme is also implemented in Habsiguda division of Hyderabad in which 130 lakh CFL bulbs would be supplied, he added.
To encourage use of non-conventional energy resources, the State Government had sanctioned 75 MW solar power plants recently besides encouraging wind power energy, Mr Mithra said.
Mr A Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Member Secretary, Energy Co-ordination Cell, AP, said a comprehensive report on energy conservation would be submitted to the Government by the end of September.
