Silk Mark Expo 2011, organised by the Silk Mark Organisation of India, will be held here during August 2-7 at the Gokulam Park Convention Centre, Kaloor, Kochi, and showcase India's finest and purest silk products.
Mr K. S. Menon, Chief Executive of SMOI, said the Silk Mark is an initiative of the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, and was launched as a result of the demand from consumers and traders for a quality assurance benchmark that would ensure fair trade practice in silk. According to the Silk Mark Scheme, original quality silk will always carry the ‘Silk Mark' tag to let consumers know that they are buying original silk.
The objective is to promote the value of 100 per cent pure silk so that it is appreciated by more and more people. This is a great platform for silk manufacturers to showcase their products. SMOI is ensuring subsidised rates for the stalls and focusing on the benefits to the silk producers and the customers. There will be 50 stalls from across India displaying silk sarees, ready-to-wear garments and a huge range of silk materials.
