The Goa Handicrafts Rural and Small-Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd (GHRSSIDC), a State-owned handicrafts promotion body, has appointed Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, as transaction advisors-cum-financial consultants for its “Shilpgram” project under public private partnership (PPP).
The consultants are asked to submit a feasibility report and to assist the GHRSSIDC in selecting a suitable private partner.
The report is awaited, said a written reply given by the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, who also holds Industries portfolio, to a question tabled in the State Assembly on Tuesday.
In his reply to the question tabled by the BJP MLA, Mr Milind Naik, the Chief Minister had said that the Corporation desires to develop a landed area admeasuring 14,400 sq. metres belonging to the Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce located at Crafts complex, Neuginagar, in the city.
The proposed Shilpgram project is expected to provide excellent marketing facility for handicraft artisans, promote dialogue and interaction between national international artisans with their Goan counterparts, facilitate exports of Goan handicrafts, promote handicrafts-based tourism on the lines of Delhi Haat, Chowkidani, Jaipur.
The project has been accorded preliminary approval by the State Cabinet, he stated.
