Union Revenue Secretary Sumit Bose has said that the Government was confident of meeting its disinvestment target for 2012-13. “We have already identified 10 companies where we plan to offload our stake,” Bose told newspersons on the sidelines of a lecture series organised by the International Management Institute – Kolkata here on Saturday .
The Centre had set a target of mopping up close to Rs 30,000 crore through equity stake sales in companies including Oil India, SAIL, Hindustan Aeronautics, Nalco, RINL, BHEL, MMTC and NMDC. The Centre recently offloaded about 5.58 per cent stake in Hindustan Copper Ltd, garnering nearly Rs 800 crore . So far, the Government has managed to get only around Rs 14,000 crore as against the disinvestment target of Rs 40,000 crore in 2011-12.
