A national handloom technology institute, which provides an advance diploma course in handloom and textile technology, will be opened in Kannur district in July.
The Indian Institute of Handloom Technology(IIHT), coming up at Thottada, is envisaged as a facility to provide technical advancement to the handloom and textile industry in the State. It will utilise the infrastructure of Institute of Handloom and Textile Technology functioning in the same district, an IIHT release said .
