Mr N.J. Yasaswy, founder of the ICFAI Group of educational institutions and a pioneer to promote higher education in the private sector, died on Saturday.
A chartered accountant, the 62-year-old Yasaswy built a network of 11 universities and six ICFAI Business-schools, with presence across the country. The ICFAI B-school and the various publications have come to stay.
He died at a corporate hospital after ailing for a couple of weeks.
A known face in the financial and accountancy sectors, Yasaswy's annual post-Budget analysis sessions were very popular.
He was a member of the board of directors of the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts, Switzerland.
Recently, he was nominated Member on SEBI Committee on Accounting Standards.
In 1984, he ventured into entrepreneurship in the education sector.
This led to the birth of ICFAI.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
