A student graduating from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade has got a salary offer of Rs 22 lakh a year — its highest such offer from a domestic company. The institute said it has registered a 9-per cent increase in median salary this hiring season. Around 74 recruiters attended its final placements recently, despite the sluggish economy.

The B-School said 46 students bagged pre-placement offers through summer internships with companies such as Goldman Sachs, Nomura Holdings, Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Mahindra & Mahindra, ITC, Godrej, DBS, Colgate Palmolive, Citibank, Britannia, CEB and the Tata Group.

Munish Bhargava, Corporate and Placement Advisor, IIFT added that as many as 34 new recruiters came in for campus placements this year from across sectors

While Goldman Sachs was the largest recruiter in the finance sector making offers to eight students, other recruiters who offered roles to students for the corporate finance profile included Citibank, Crisil, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Indus Valley Partners, Vodafone and Wipro.

The school also said that a majority of its students bagged recruitments in the sales and marketing function from companies.

ITC was the largest recruiter in the FMCG space; telecom and auto companies such as Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Tata motors, Hero Motor Corp, Maruti and Bajaj Auto also recruited students for multiple profiles. In IT, Google was one first-time recruiter, while Flipkart hired the maximum number of students from the technology and e-commerce sector.
