India is keen on technology-based partnerships and research collaborations with the US investors in the field of renewable energy.
“We are open to all kinds of business models – whether it is PPP (public-private partnerships) or BOT (build-operate-transfer), you tell us what you are comfortable with,” said Dr Farooq Abdullah, Minister for New and Renewable Energy, at a roundtable organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Chicago.
Given just over 15 MW of current installed capacity and an ambitious target to produce 30,000 MW of solar power by 2022, India has tremendous business opportunities in the field, the Minister said.
He also highlighted the efforts made by many Indian States in implementing solar energy generation plans under the National Solar Mission.
