The Centre's indirect tax collections grew 9.6 per cent in February at Rs 31,469 crore (against Rs 28,705 crore in February last year).
For the April-February 2012 period, the collections stood at Rs 3,48,702 crore, reflecting a 14.6 per cent growth over Rs 3,04,212 crore in the same period of the previous year. While excise collections continue to be somewhat sluggish, there is good news on the service tax front.
The Centre's service tax collections at Rs 82,562 crore during April-February has exceeded the budget estimate of Rs 82,000 crore for current fiscal.
For the April-February period, customs collections grew 12 per cent at Rs 1,36,214 crore (Rs 1,21,588 crore).
