Security forces were put on alert in Jammu and Kashmir today, especially in the summer capital Srinagar, following the three bomb blasts in Mumbai that left at least 21 persons dead and more than 140 others injured.
Additional deployment of police and paramilitary CRPF was carried out around sensitive installations in the city to thwart any possible attacks by the militants, officials said.
They said that although there were no intelligence inputs about any imminent attack in the state, the security grid has been alerted to avoid possible militant attacks following the blasts in Mumbai yesterday.
The security agencies apprehend that militants might take advantage of the diversion in attention to disrupt the peace in Kashmir, the officials said.
Hundreds of policemen dotted the roadside from Srinagar Airport to the city to secure the road which is used by the VIPs including the Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah, they said.
