The Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, has shrugged off concerns over the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) latest ‘below normal' monsoon forecast.
“They (IMD) are saying the rainfall will be around 95 per cent of the (long period) average as against (the earlier ‘normal' forecast of) 98 per cent,” Mr Mukherjee told reporters, when queried about the IMD's forecast update issued on Tuesday.
“Let us wait for some more time,” the Finance Minister said here on Wednesday, while suggesting not to read too much into the gap between ‘normal' and ‘below normal' monsoon.
