The Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Mr Jairam Ramesh, and the Minister of State for Power, Mr K. C. Venugopal, will jointly commission the Renova waste disposer at a suburban bake house here on Sunday.
Developed by Renova Home Value Appliances, the product will witness a national launch at the function, a company spokesman said.
The food waste disposer is an innovative kitchen appliance, powered electrically and fits under the kitchen sink.
Any leftover food, from hard meat bones to melon rinds, gets ground into fine particles which can pass easily through the plumbing and be flushed out.
“With landfills overflowing and infrastructure inadequate to handle current loads, there needs to be a system in place to capture and treat waste at source,” says Mr Ranjith Balan, Director, Renova Home Value Systems.
Renova has designed a comprehensive system that will not only eliminate the need for waste removal, but will also help generate energy in the form of biogas.
