The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has further extended the last date for filing Director's Identification Number-4. DIN holders will be able to furnish their PAN details until the last date of this calendar year.
The concept of DIN was first introduced through an amendment of the Companies Act in 2006 to check the problem of vanishing companies.
The last date for filing a DIN was earlier extended on October 4. “We are extending it again to ensure everybody is able to get one,” said an MCA official.
The ICAI, ICWAI, ICSI and all chambers of commerce have been asked by the Ministry to convey the message to their members. The existing DIN holders will be informed to furnish their PAN by filing form DIN-4 by February 29 next year to avoid penal action through e-mail and SMSes, according to a release.
According to a Ministry circular, all DIN applications have to be digitally signed by practising Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries or Cost Accountants who are expected to verify the particulars of the applicant. The approval of applications will also take place online.
The Ministry has also extended the date for various claims under the Company Law Settlement Scheme, 2011 up to January 15 next year.
The scheme will not be extended beyond this date, said the Ministry in a release.
