The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has reconstituted the National Food Processing Development Council. The 21-member council will be headed by the Minister of Food Processing Industries as its Chairman and Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries as Vice-Chairman.
Among its other constituents are Food Ministers from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Meghalaya, apart from industry chamber representatives.
The council, which has a term of two years, will meet at least twice a year on a half-yearly basis, a Food Processing Ministry release said, adding that the council will give overall policy direction to the sector as well as monitor and review the progress and performance various related Central schemes.
