Even as the rupee and sensex fell rapidly in January this year, the job market seems to have some good news for job seekers in Bangalore.
The Naukri Job Index for Bangalore grew by nine per cent in January 2012 when compared to December 2011.
There was a positive hiring activity across all key sectors during the month.
Key sectors of the city such as IT and ITeS experienced a rise of three per cent and 19 per cent during January compared to the previous month.
On a year-on-year comparison, the employment index for Bangalore moved up 35 per cent in January 2012 compared to the same period last year. Comparable figure for the national index was a rise of 16 per cent.
Mr Hitesh Oberoi, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Info Edge India, that owns the Naukri.com job site, said that the hiring scenario is moving in a positive direction, but this year, “firms will be more particular about recruiting the right talent and employees who can make meaningful contributions to the firm.”
