The Bill for the creation of Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh reached here on Thursday.
A senior official of the Union Home Ministry handed over the bundle containing the Bill papers to State Chief Secretary P. K. Mohanty at the Secretariat here this evening. However, there is no clarity on when the Bill is likely to be tabled in the State Assembly. The duration of the winter session has been fixed for seven days.
He held a closed-door meeting with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy besides other key political leaders even as protests were held by supporters of a united Andhra Pradesh who demanded that Singh should go back. He is expected to meet Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan today .
Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu continued to pick holes in the proposed Bill approved by the Cabinet note, and leaving unaddressed the concerns of the Seemandhra region. naga.gunturi@thehindu.co.in
