No postponement of Group-II exam: APPSC

Our Bureau Updated - November 12, 2017 at 08:39 PM.

The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission will be conducting the Group II examination on October 15-16 irrespective of the on-going general strike for a separate Telangana State.

The commission has clarified that there would be no postponement of the examination as it would harm the interest of over 4.5 lakh aspirants.

However, the candidates may have a tough time as the pro-Telangana activists had called for a ‘Rail Roko' during October 15-17.

In addition, the services of the State Road Transport Corporation have not been restored yet fully.

The examination would be conducted in 1,064 centres in the State, out of which 402 are located in the Telangana region.

About 150 centres are in the State capital.

Any disruption of the examination by candidates would result in debarment from appearing in examinations to be conducted in future, the Commission warned.

New system

For the first time, the commission is allowing candidates to take home a copy of the answer sheet following many requests from the candidates.

They will be given two OMR answer sheets (which are based on a software that reads the encircled blocks in which answers are marked in objective type examinations) which can used as a carbon-less copy.

After the exam one copy should be submitted to the examiner while the other could be taken to home, the Commission said.

Education hit

Meanwhile, many private schools and colleges remained closed on Thursday while the attendance of lecturers in Government-run institutions was thin.

A large group of parents met the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy, and submitted a memorandum requesting him to ensure that educational institutions are exempted from bandhs and agitations in view of the loss to the students.
