Households using piped natural gas (PNG) in NCT of Delhi will have to shell out Rs 3 for every standard cubic metre (scm) consumed from Thursday.
Indraprastha Gas Ltd has announced the new consumer price of PNG to the households in Delhi is being revised to Rs 22 a scm for consumption up to 30 scm in two months and Rs 34 a scm beyond consumption of 30 scm in two months.
The price of domestic PNG in Delhi is Rs 18.95 a scm for consumption up to 45 scm in two months and Rs 26 a scm beyond consumption of 45 scm in two months, the company said in a statement.
Due to differential tax structure in Uttar Pradesh, the applicable price of domestic PNG to households in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad would be Rs 23.50 a scm for consumption up to 30 scm in two months and Rs 34 a scm beyond consumption of 30 scm in two months with effect from September 1.
The price of domestic PNG in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad is Rs 20.42 per scm for consumption upto 45 scm in two months and Rs 26 per scm beyond consumption of 45 scm in two months.
Explaining the reason leading to the revision in the price of domestic PNG, Mr Rajesh Vedvyas, Managing Director, IGL, said, “We are constrained to revise the price because of increase in overall input cost of gas. Beyond our allocation of APM gas to meet PNG demand in Delhi only, we are forced to procure much higher priced RLNG to meet the increased demand, which has contributed to higher cost of sourcing the gas.”
