The Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, is likely to urge G20 member countries to voluntarily exchange past banking information for tax administration purposes.
At the G20 Finance Ministers' and Central Bank Governors' meeting scheduled to be held at Paris on October 14 and 15, Mr Mukherjee is expected to raise the issue of exchange of information to fight against the menace of black money and terror financing.
Mr Mukherjee left New Delhi on Thursday evening for a three-day visit to Paris. At the two-day G20 conference, the Finance Minister is also likely to pitch for a mechanism wherein tax havens would be required to provide uninterrupted flow of information on black money and terror financing.
During his Paris visit, Mr Mukherjee is also likely to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from France, Australia and the UK. The Finance Minister will return to the Capital on Sunday.
