Rail and road services were affected in various parts of the State following protests launched by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and All Assam Students' Union (AASU) against transportation of a consignment of turbines to the ‘controversial' Lower Subansiri hydel power project, official sources said. The KMSS led by its secretary, Mr Akhil Gogoi, launched day-long protest throughout the State on Saturday, blocking rail tracks and roads at different places of both Upper and Lower Assam disrupting rail services and road traffic.
