A group of woodcraft industries in Kozhikode has formed a cluster with the objective of reviving the centuries-old heritage of Malabar region in manufacturing wood furniture and allied products.
The cluster, which has been promoted by the Woodcraft Organisation of Kozhikode, has 33 stakeholders and they have formed a special purpose vehicle, Zamorians Furniture Consortium Private Ltd, to establish a centre to help the development of woodcraft industries in the region.
Mr Gangadharan Malayil, Chairman of the consortium, said that the units had been experiencing several constraints. The facility is aimed at addressing these issues.
The project is expected to be implemented with the assistance of the public-private partnership schemes of the Centre.
