Vedanta Resource’s Sesa Goa limited is among the firms vying for prospecting licence for mining of precious materials like Gold and Platinum in several areas of Goa, the State Legislative assembly was told today.
According to Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, about 19 applications for prospecting licences were received of which 11 were withdrawn, subsequently leaving only eight companies looking out for the precious material to be mined from Goa.
As per the record tabled on the floor of the House, Geo Mysore Services, Goan Mineral Resources Pvt Ltd, Sarmeta Exploration of Pvt Ltd, Sesa Goa, Adi Gold mining have submitted their applications before the State Mines and Geology department.
Mr Kamat said these applications were received by the state government over last two decades between 1994—2011.
