The West Bengal Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Partha Chatterjee, on Monday said that the Governor, Mr M.K. Narayanan, has given his assent to the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Bill, 2011.
According to State Government sources, the Bill has been sent to the Law Department for gazette notification and due framing of rules.
“We are looking forward to early gazette notification of the proposed Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011,” the official said.
The proposed Act will allow the state to “vest” the 997-acre abandoned Nano project site of Tata Motors and its vendors at Singur in Hooghly district.
According to the Bill, part of the land will be returned to the unwilling farmers who did not accept compensation and the rest will be used for public purposes.
