Under attack for failing to take steps to stop illegal mining, the Orissa Government has decided to undertake survey at two mining circles spread over Keonjhar and Sundergarh districts, officials said.
“The actual survey work using scientific modalities will be carried out in Joda mining circle in Keonjhar district and Koida circle in Sundergarh district,” a senior official in Steel and Mines Department said today adding eight teams would carry out survey activities.
It had been alleged that most mines owners undertake mining outside their lease areas, fuelling illegal trade.
