Ms Sarah Clymer and Miss Katherine Reedy, Vice Consuls of US Consulate General, Chennai, gave a presentation on US visa requirements and formalities at a meeting organised by the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here on Friday.
In her address, Ms Sarah Clymer said that the interview for Visa applicant took approximately one hour only and the same was issued after 3-15 days time. Ten per cent of all US non-immigrant visa applications came from India and 1,42,565 non-immigrant visas were issued at Chennai in 2010. Indians are issued 65 per cent of H1 B visas worldwide and 1,03,000 Indian students are studying in United States universities, she said.
Mr N. Jegatheesan, Chamber President welcomed the Vice Consuls. The senior President of the Chamber, Mr S. Rethinavelu, in his address referred to the visit of trade delegation from the Chamber to several countries including China, South Africa, Mauritius, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam etc. to motivate two-way trade and informed that a trade delegation would also be taken to US for the purpose asearly as possible.
